The escalating rivalry and advanced technologies have made software developers pay special attention to efficiency and productivity of all work processes. Consequently, there have been launched different programmes that can optimize enterprises' work. One of the most widely used file formats is Word Document. It is a word processing application designed for creation of office documents, for instance resumes, newsletters, fax cover sheets, checklists, legal documents, brochures, instruction manuals and so on. Microsoft Word is usually used by corporations, agencies, and is installed in most schools and colleges. Students use it daily and businessmen deploy it for creating office documents. Word application was released by Microsoft Ltd. It was originally named Multi-Tool Word. The first version was introduced in the 1980s. Since that time, there have been introduced several other versions, including the latest version introduced in 2008. The next version of Word is believed to be launchedin the coming 2010. It will comprise many new features common to other programmes in the Office 2010. Microsoft Word 2010 will include new WordArt styles and effects replacing the old ones. Though Word is a constituent of the Microsoft Office system, it is also sold as a standalone software package and included in Microsoft Works Suite. Starting from the 2003 version, the brand name was altered to emphasize Word's identity as a component within the Office Suite. Microsoft Ltd. Renamed Microsoft Word into Microsoft Office Word. The Word format allows to type, format and modify text to be printed off or viewed electronically. The Word Document format is a low-cost word processing program. The application offers unlimited tools and features, and many users are familiar and frequently deploy Microsoft toolbars. The word processing programme provides tools to format fonts, add clipart, add page numbers, and create tables and headers. Word's file formats are denoted either by a. doc or. docx file extension. The newer ".docx" extension signifies the Office Open XML international standard for Office documents and is deployed by Word 2007 for Windows, Word 2008 for the Macintosh.
